Math Update
Third Grade
Third grade students worked in Martina and Fizz and have no homework for this. Their homework is the thinking problem for this week. They were to find at least one way to use the following 5 numbers: 4, 9, -6, 3, 2 to make -3 and 3, -2, 4, 5, 9 to make -8.
Fourth Grade
Fourth graders are finished with lesson 3 of Bits and Pieces II. Their homework is the thinking problem for this week. They were to find at least one way to use the following 5 numbers: 4, 9, -6, 3, 2 to make -3 and 3, -2, 4, 5, 9 to make -8. The more ways they can find to solve this problem, the more their thinking will be challenged.
Fifth Grade
Fifth graders ahave finished their bicycle tour brochure. Their homework is the thinking problem for this week. They were to find at least one way to use the following 5 numbers: 4, 9, -6, 3, 2 to make -3 and 3, -2, 4, 5, 9 to make -8. They more ways they can find to solve this problem, the more their thinking will be challenged.
Reading Update
Third Grade
Third grade students have finished their On the Day You Were Born into slide shows. I you would like a copy of the powerpoint, please send in a flash drive and I will copy it for you.
Fourth Grade
Fourth graders started reading The Song of Sampo Lake by William Durbin. There is no homework over Thanksgiving.
Fifth Grade
Fifth graders have finished reading Shackleton's Stowaway. If they have turned in all their assignments, there is no homework over Thanksgiving.

Third Grade

Fourth Grade
Fourth graders started reading The Song of Sampo Lake by William Durbin. They are to read to page 48 for Wednesday.
Fifth Grade
Fifth graders are reading Shackleton's Stowaway by Victoria MCKernan. They are to read to the end. There will be a total of 5 text-to-self, text, or world connection paragraphs for the book. They can be working on thier 2 bubble maps and their flow map.

Reading Update
Third Grade
Third grade students are putting their research for On the Day You Were Born into slide shows. They are continuing to use student links on the website to find information via the internet. There is no extra homework if they have finished their questions and used the interview questions for interviewing their parents or grandparents for some information. They may want to bring a newborn/baby picture in to add to their project.
Fourth Grade
Fourth graders have finished reading My Daniel by Pam Conrad. If they have finished working on flow and bubble maps for this book there is no homework.
Fifth Grade
Fifth graders are reading Shackleton's Stowaway by Victoria MCKernan. They are to read to page 249. If they choose to read farther, they will need to write a paragraph about every 60 pages. There will be a total of 5 text-to-self, text, or world connection paragraphs for the book.

Third grade students worked on partial product algorithms again to multiply. We began another unit called Martina and Fizz that helps students solve problems through animated stories by writing detailed responses. Their homew work wa to finish 2B numbers 2 and 3. Their thinking problem for this week was to find at least one way to use the following 5 numbers: -4, 6, 5, 11, 2 to make -4.
Fourth Grade
Fourth graders are finishing lesson 3 of Bits and Pieces II. They have 3.3, 3.4, and 3.5 for Tuesday. If they did not finish this in class they need to finish that as homework. They will have find at least one way to use the following 5 numbers: 3, 4, -5, 6, 2, to make -5 and 9, 4, 6, 5, 11 to make 7. They more ways they can find to solve this problem, the more their thinking will be challenged.
Fifth Grade
Fifth graders have finished lesson 3 of Variables and Patterns. Students are working on a brochure with other students to plan their bicycle tour. They also have find at least one way to use the following 5 numbers: 3, 4, -5, 6, 2, to make -5 and 9, 4, 6, 5, 11 to make 7. They more ways they can find to solve this problem, the more their thinking will be challenged.
